Wendy Arrowsmith began her professional career after training at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She has an MA in Performance and Culture from Goldsmiths College, University of London. In her early professional years she worked as assistant to Lighting and Set designer David Hersey on a range of west end musicals, plays, and operas.She has also designed lighting for theatres such as the Tricycle Theatre in North London. In association with Joanna Procter she helped found an experimental theatre company Ex-Machina Productions and toured adaptations including ‘Candide’, Liz Lochhead’s ‘Blood and Ice’, and Sam Shepard’s ‘Seduced’ in association with Cambridge Mummers. Cultural collaborations include filming and editing a documentary in Uganda, focusing on women’s development and empowerment. During this period she also supported the World Wide Fund for Nature using drama skills with young children from the suburbs of Mumbai on a residential project in the forests of Madya Pradesh.

As an experienced education practitioner, Wendy has since focused on cross cultural performance practice in diverse spaces. She has forged links through shared performances and workshops with international theatre companies including  Peter Brook’s ICCT in Paris, and written and adapted plays for performance in schools in Barcelona, Spain.  Her recent work with World Stages Now includes theatre workshops and performances for Refugee Week with asylum seekers in Southampton. Wendy lectures part time at Peter Symonds College in Winchester and is an Associate Member of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and tutors for LAMDA examinations. She also teaches Interview skills using drama to support communication skills and develop confidence in the UK work place.
